Time to look at MUNI. San Francisco has changed drastically in the last ten years. I believe our public transit system (MUNI) has lagged behind in adjusting to the change.
I think bus routes could be adjusted and that more routes should be added to better serve the great citizens of San Francisco.
* Protect MUNI drivers! - Vigorously find and prosecute those guilty of assaulting our MUNI drivers.
* Protect MUNI passengers! - Our citizens should feel safe and not be intimidated of taking public transit! We will find and act upon those who harm others!
* Create certain bus zones or sectors in town where the buses would be consistently circulating through a certain area.
Take South of Market, from Mission to Townsend N/S and from Division (13th) to Embarcadero E/W.
Buses would run in the one-way direction of each street. There would be a bus stop at the end of each block with one of two colors for that stop. Let's use the Giants orange and black. One block would have an orange stop, the next block a black stop. A bus with an orange flag or marker would stop at the corresponding colored corner stop. So each bus would stop every two blocks. So a passenger would only have to walk a half-block from the stop forward or back, or one block north or south. The amount of buses running the routes could be adjusted to peak hours and slower hours.
We should be able to get around town a whole lot easier!
