At least 15 valuable parking spaces taken from the hard-working merchants and residents of Irving St. between 7th to 10th avenue. No good.
I would immediately freeze any projects that are taking parking spaces away and review them. I believe the vast majority and I mean vast, want to keep their parking. I know the small business community does!
I am very suspicious of these projects, having been through it myself on Ocean Avenue. On Ocean they removed over 130 parking spaces. At every community hearing, 90% were against it, there were always a couple of "concerned citizens of the community," who supported it. Of course, they were homeowners with garages and driveways for their vehicles.
After forcing this on us, the city next followed by forcing a so called Community Benefit District or CBD on us. The CBD proliferation is another issue. Guess who was hired to run the Ocean Ave CBD? You got it. The couple of "concerned citizens of the community" that attended the meetings.
I have a few ideas on how we could utilize the wide streets we have to make parking more efficient for those who need to park their cars overnight for work in the morning.
Think about it,
